As part of its artistic programme Furtherfield supports an ongoing programme of national and international residencies with designated facilities for visiting artists. Based near the thriving Green Lanes area of North London with excellent access to London culture, Furtherfield residencies offer a productive and dynamic environment to produce work and develop practices in art, technology and social change.
Emerging and established artists with diverse practices take advantage of the residencies. Furtherfield offer practical and critical support in the development of new work as well as exhibition and distribution opportunities. Visiting artists have access to a community of like-minded practitioners and learning and social events.
Artists that undertake a residency at Furtherfield are invited to present their work to the Furtherfield community through online platforms and public events at Furtherfield Gallery. Work created during each residency may be considered for inclusion in Furtherfield Gallery’s exhibition programme.
Residencies usually last between one week and 3 months. The duration and aims of all residencies are negotiable. The cost of the residency is £400/month for individual artists and £600/month for institutional bodies. Bursaries are available for all residencies and we welcome applications.
Furtherfield provides:
• Studio facilities
• In-house tech support
• Wireless internet access
• Access to a wide range of equipment
• Sounding board, expertise and honest advice (where appropriate)
Unfortunately, due to space limitations the residency programme is currently suspended. Furtherfield is looking into opening a new labspace in partnership with Drake Music in Summer 2013. For more information, please contact Alessandra Scapin, Furtherfield Programme Manager and Coordinator.
