Psychogeographic Walk Serendipity [V1.04]

hello world : people vs programming
Forum organised by Boredom Research
8/9/10 March 2003

www.boredomresearch.net/helloworld

My work, often net-centric, has recurring themes around language, programming, maps, networks and collaboration. Inspired by recent work by urban psychogeographers, including Glowlab, Ivan Pope and Social Fiction, forum participants were invited to embark on a 'programmed' psychogeographic walk, following a set of instructions written as a pseudo computer program, collecting 'data' - thoughts, images and sounds - along the way.

On completion, participants were able to use and test the first version of 'serendipity' to map and document the results of their walk, building a collaborative map of the dérive.
