'Your experience of hypnosis is truly extraordinary and the resulting unfathomable
encounter with the sculpture seemed to be both comic
and profound. You seem to have made a person perhaps your alter ego - the divine side

In September 1999 I travelled to the shrine & chapel of Julian of Norwich, an anchoress and mystic. My journey was to site a large portable sculpture called 'The Cloud of Unknowing' and end a chapter in my life also symbolized by leaving my job and studio at the Nunnery in London. I had been 'shown' what 'The Cloud of Unknowing' would look like during a hynotherapy session I underwent before my driving test. On the day of my pilgrimage I travelled with a friend to Norwich and hung the sculpture in a huge horse chesnut tree.
