Henrietta-Lucy Dillon / Marquise de La Tour du Pin (1770-1853)

from Memoirs of Madame de La Tour du Pin

Her father was Arthur Dillon (1750-1794), second son of Henry, 11th Viscount Dillon. Her mother was Lucie de Rothe (1751-1782) daughter of General Edward de Rothe and Lucy Cary. She was brought up by her grandmother (Lucy Cary) after her mother's death.

Born in Paris in 1770, married in 1787 to the Comte de Gouvernet, later Marquis de La Tour du Pin. They had seven children, only one of who survived them. Her memoirs, written between 1820, when she was already fifty, and 1853 when she died, cover the period of her childhood, life at the court of Louis XVI, the Revolution and the first year of the Restoration. They were written for Aymar, her only surviving child.
