Nuage Vert (Green Cloud) 2008 created by Helen Evans & Heiko Hansen (25/8/09)
recommend
A large scale environmental artwork awarded a Golden Nica by Prix Ars Electronica in which a laser projection illuminates a cloud of vapour emissions produced by a power plant in Helsinki. The shape of the laser image follows a thermal image of the emissions, visualising the amount of heat emitted whilst the size of the projection makes visible power consumption in the local area. Working in partnership with the power station, it creates a beautiful spectacle in the sky, helping to make visible complex facts about the environment. The power station is selected close to a residential area. Local residents are invited on one evening to switch off from the grid by turning off all electrical appliances and coming out onto the streets to view the artwork.

On Everything generates a real-time audio/visual presentation of everything by appropriating shared images and diaries on the web. The source material is endless, and the work goes on forever. Material is synthesized, mixed and, ultimately, abstracted, to allow for varied interpretation. On Everything knows nothing of the content of these materials. It reflects everything while reflecting on nothing.
